I came to pipe smoking as a cigar guy. I like my tobacco to go hard. I like strong flavors. A lot of the aromatic blends are too gentle in the tobacco flavor department and so I appreciate them for what they are, but they don’t quite give me the kick in the face that a good Maduro offers. This one caught my eye for being a stronger tobacco with a traditional old school pseudo-flavoring. I’m trying it now and three things are clear to me:
1. This tobacco requires a lot of drying time! My first bowl is still quite wet
2. It looks like shredding it for smoking is its own skill.
3. If you like strong cigars like Tabernacle and Blackened M81, this will be right up your alley.
To be clear, this does not taste like a cigar. It is very much its own thing. But if you’re used to the more intense experience of a strong cigar, this will scratch that itch!
